The Truth About Alcohol

Oh, man – you are going to hate me for telling you this, but it needs to be said: alcohol and menopause don’t mix. 

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes that glass of wine or G&T is exactly what is needed, but there’s a cost.  Alcohol interferes with the body’s metabolism of estrogen and causes an immediate imbalance in circulating hormones.  Have you ever noticed that your sleep is crap and hot flashes are 10X worse after even one drink?  That’s why.  Even worse: there is a direct link between the surge of estrogen that comes from alcohol consumption and breast cancer.

Alcohol is pure sugar, deposited directly into your bloodstream.  If you are fighting midlife weight gain, low energy, dull skin, or severe hot flashes, cutting out alcohol (or at least dramatically reducing your intake) could be one of the fastest ways to find relief, and you just might protect yourself from cancer at the same time.
